Stuart Marburg, Chief Executive Officer

Stuart Marburg was one of the pioneers of the Internet Industry in Australia, co-founding Netspace Online Systems in 1992 and heading up the company until it was acquired by iiNet Ltd in 2010. Since Netspace, Stuart has had investments in a number of businesses, and is involved in several residential developments.

Barrie Lambert, Chief Financial Officer

Barrie joined MessageMedia in October 2013 as Chief Financial Officer. He has 20+ years international experience in senior finance, operations and general management roles across a number of industries, with a focus on high growth businesses in technology, e-commerce, software and retail. Barrie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Accountancy) degree from the University of South Australia, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sydney (GSB/AGSM). He is a Chartered Accountant and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Barrie’s favourite use of SMS is organising a game of golf with a group of mates!

Mark Rothert, US President

Mark joined MessageMedia in 2013 and leads our US business. He worked as an investment professional for Crocker Capital, a private investment company based in San Francisco. Before Crocker Capital, Mark was a management consultant for McKinsey & Co. in New York and Washington, DC. Earlier in his career, Mark worked for a relief agency in Central Africa. Mark has JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University and is a member of the New York State Bar. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and four kids, all of whom are more proficient text-ers than he is.

Cameron Buckley, Executive Director – Sales & Marketing

For two decades Cameron has worked in various sales, marketing and general management roles for market leading media services companies; PMP Limited, Pacific Micromarketing (now Experian), Axiom and iSentia. During this time Cameron has developed extensive international experience, living and working in the UK and a number of Asia Pacific countries. He joined MessageMedia in 2015 from iSentia after holding a diverse range of Executive Team positions over 8 years. During his time as General Manager -South East Asia, Chief Marketing Officer – APAC and Chief Executive – Asia, the company grew from a privately owned Australia and New Zealand business to a publicly listed APAC market leader operating across 12 countries. Before joining MessageMedia, Cameron was Chief Executive – Asia and was responsible for leading a rapidly growing media research and SaaS business with 700 staff across 10 countries.

Justin Drerup, Chief Technology Officer

Justin has understood the value of SMS since 1993 when he bought his first mobile phone to ensure he was always contactable for his student job. He is now driving the largest technical transformation MessageMedia has ever seen – delivering the next iteration of its world-class messaging platform. Justin draws upon his wealth of experience working internationally in start-ups, digital agencies, consultancies and a variety of enterprise financial service organisations. He likes to think that he regularly gets out kitesurfing and snowboarding however this seems to happen less and less since having a family.

Nicole Seiffert, Head of Recruitment

Nicole is responsible for recruiting great MessageMedia people! After working with large organisations in Australia and the USA, she joined MessageMedia in early 2012. Nicole started her career as an Economist before her passion for helping organisations find great people who make a difference developed. She finds it far more interesting than forecasting the next CPI increase! Prior to MessageMedia, Nicole led a New York based HR Consulting firm and the USA Recruitment function for a global insurance company. Nicole has a Bachelor of Economics and a Masters of Business (Human Resource Management) from Monash University.

Rohan Filer, Head of Corporate Development

For two decades Rohan has been advising businesses on corporate finance, business transformation, strategic reviews and international tax structuring. He joined MessageMedia from Pitcher Partners, where he spent five years providing M&A and strategic advisory services to a range of clients. Before that he worked in investment banking and got his early grounding at PwC in Australia and the UK. Rohan is a chartered accountant and has an MBA from London Business School. When not negotiating deals, Rohan can be found at the footy supporting his beloved Carlton. If you check his phone, his messages are usually sport related!

Matthew Phillips, Chief Commercial Officer

Matthew has 20 years IT&T experience, primarily in solution selling and commercial roles. His strong technical understanding, program management and communication skills, combine with an engineering background and sound strategic thinking to achieve results. Matthew has delivered complex commercial deals across a range of roles with companies including Siemens, Cisco, Telstra and NBN Co. Matthew holds a Grad Dip (Economics) from Monash University and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. Matthew is a classically trained text messenger who uses grammatical sentences with punctuation. He does this in part so his kids can’t read his messages!

Matthew Varley, Chief Operating Officer

Matthew is passionate about all things digital. He joined start-up Wotif.com in 2004 during a period of high growth, and prior to company’s public listing on the ASX. Appointed Executive General Manager Online Marketing in 2008, Matthew defined and executed the Wotif Group online marketing strategy across 100+ web properties. He was then appointed Executive General Manager- Asia, leading the Asian operations for the Group, and managing over 150 staff across eight countries.
Before joining MessageMedia, Matthew was the Chief Operating Officer at wego.com, the Asia Pacific and the Middle East’s leading travel metasearch engine.
